Switzerland
The land of mountains and chocolate.
I have been in Switzerland for a bit over a month now and things are going ok.
Apart from the usual things like getting lost, chaining your bike up and forgetting the lock code, being out the back of nowhere in the Alps and your bike chain snapping only to realise after walking 25km that the town completely shuts down for lunch for 2hrs and your still 40km from home, its been pretty good.
I am staying on the famous Powerman Zofingen Duathlon World Championship course just at the top of the hill from town with some incredible forests at the back door and running trails out of this world.
The racing has also been interesting with some really fast and hard races. The Swiss Duathlon Prix consists of 5 race through out Swiss and 3 races count for the overall point score.
My first race was a write off coming 30th in a 4-16-4-16-4 km circuit, I shortly realised that duathlon is really specific and these guys weren't mucking about, every second counts and I was holding on with grim death, thinking what had I got myself into.
The 2nd race I placed 7th in a 8-30-4km format and ran a lot better, having the 2nd fastest run split by 3sec.
The following week I raced the 4th race in the series and to place 8th in the rain and mud was incredible as it had been raining for the last 5 days before the race.
So things are improving here and I will do my last race this weekend
and hopefully I should get enough points to place in the top 10 in the
overall series which will be a good result and even better, a great learning experience for the future.
The only problem here is that the chocolate is so good and its
everywhere, you just became addicted to it. From here I'll move on to Munich Germany for a week before preparing for Powerman Austria in the Czech
Republic.
Hopefully everything is well at the club and the duathlon series is going well
Cheers from Swiss Jarred Adam
Hi Everyone
well things over here are still going well,iv found myself staying on in switzerland for longer then expected and its working out well. i placed 7th overall in the swiss duathlon cup in my first stint of racing which was good and a great experience.
In the last month i put in some good training and i raced last weekend which sore my first win here which i was really pleased with,it was a flat fast run course and the bike was very tecqnical and hilly and to be honest pretty dangerous, the orginisation for the race and the ora around it was great though, and it was really good to win.
this weekend saw me make a midnight decision to race and the preparation was a little bit crazy, which was a little bit silly but i guess thats part of the fun. i placed 3rd which was good as the course was very chalenging with a run around a beautiful lake in between the mountains and the bike course being down hill 10km at a speed of about 60-70kmh and straight back up at about 15-20 max which was difficult after a big week.
I've also had the opportunity to go to some really good places to
train, yesterday we went into the alpes were we rode 3 mountain passes each one taking about 2hrs to climb up and about 15min to get down. and the crazy thing was we were riding pased snow in the middle of summer.
I've attached some photos of training, racing and just cruising around which might be of intrest.
Hope evrything is well and its great to see the website and timing system up and running, thats cool
take care j
